Завжди починаю свій день з чашки гарячої кави і з того, що заглядаю в мікроскоп. Ehrlich gesagt, дивитися на бактерії – це як спостерігати за онлайн слотами: ніколи не знаєш, що випаде наступним. Маленькі істоти, які рухаються хаотично, але насправді – неймовірно точні. Іноді я згадую, як одного разу дитина в лабораторії розлила колбу з живильним середовищем і сміялася так, ніби виграла джекпот у космолот уа. Це було не про ставки на спорт чи розіграші – це було чисте щастя від маленького хаосу, від моменту несподіванки.
Wer schon mal працював з мікроорганізмами, знає: це постійна гра на витривалість. Одного дня ти спостерігаєш, як колонії ростуть швидше, ніж очікував, наступного – все стоїть на місці. І це як у беттингу: передбачити результат майже неможливо, треба бути готовим до будь-якого сценарію, а виплати виграшів іноді відчуваються так само приємно, як бачити успішний експеримент після тижнів спостережень. Маленькі бактерії в пробірці і великі ставки на екрані – хіба це не дві сторони одного азарту?
Іноді я ловлю себе на думці, що наукове дослідження – це теж слот, тільки інший. Ти натискаєш кнопки: додаєш реагенти, міняєш умови, і дивишся, що випаде. Ставки? Є. Азарт? Теж. Тільки виграші – у вигляді знань, а не грошей. Хоча, ehrlich gesagt, коли хтось із колег хвалиться тим, що виграв у лотерею або онлайн слоти, я теж трошки заздрю – але потім повертаюся до мікроскопа і розумію: кожна колонія бактерій – це своя маленька перемога, а космолот уа нагадує мені, що азарт може бути всюди, навіть там, де його не очікуєш.
